“Utah Mule Deer, Elk,
Moose, & Cougar Hunting”
Utah Hunting Details
Utah is a leading
destination for trophy
Mule Deer hunting and
in recent years Utah has become a top trophy
Elk hunting consideration because so many
large bull elk are being taken in Utah. It’s
no longer a question of whether a 400 class
bull elk will be taken each hunting season;
the question now is “How Many 400 Class
Elk”!!!
Utah also has great Shiras Moose hunting,
Cougar hunting, Antelope hunting, and the
ever popular Cow Elk hunts offer some of the
best cow elk hunting in the west.
There’s also plenty of excellent Upland Bird
hunting for Pheasant, Sage Grouse,
Sharp-Tailed Grouse, Chucker, Dove,
Hungarian Partridge, and Forest Grouse.
Waterfowl hunting can offer exciting
shooting action for Canada Geese and several
varieties of Ducks.
Best of all, licenses are available over the
counter for many big game and small game
hunts.

Terrain &
Elevation
Utah has a variety of
terrain and is one of the most scenic states
in the west. Terrain varies greatly from one
area to another. There are high desert
mountains with juniper and aspen draws,
canyons with impressive rock formations, and
high majestic mountains. Some areas have
rolling hills and sage flats interspersed
with juniper and pinion thickets. Most
elevations will range from 5500 to 9000
feet.
Physical
Condition
Physical condition is
always a consideration; so be in as good of
condition as possible for your hunt. Bearpaw
Outfitters also know how to accommodate
hunters with physical limitations and will
adjust hunting methods to offer hunters the
highest level of success possible.
Licenses &
Hunter Education
Licenses are available
over-the counter for many trips with
landowner tags, general season tags, and
leftover limited-entry tags. There are
limited-entry draws for Mule Deer, Elk,
Sheep, and Moose in top limited-entry areas.
Hunters must be age 14 or older to hunt Big
Game in Utah and age 12 or older to hunt
small game. All hunters born after Jan 1,
1965 need Hunter Education training.

center fire and use expanding bullets,

choose to do your own. Meat processing is
usually done in a day or two.
