Washington Whitetail Hunts
“Washington’s Most
Successful Deer Hunting”
Bearpaw Outfitters offer
whitetail deer hunts near Colville in Northeast
Washington. This area has one of the largest
whitetail deer herds in the Pacific Northwest
and its Washington’s most successful deer
hunting area.
Bearpaw Outfitters have been
guiding and outfitting in Stevens, Ferry,
Spokane, and Pend Oreille County for 30 years
and know the best mountain hotspots for hunting
trophy whitetail deer in this region. Bearpaw
outfitters also lease thousands of acres of the
best private ranches for their whitetail deer
hunts.
There have been several mild
winters in recent years, whitetail numbers are
growing and big bucks are being seen regularly.
There’s never been a better time to hunt
whitetails in NE Washington. Licenses are
available over the counter so book your deer
hunt soon, “the good old days” are here again
now!!!
Best Time
Whitetail hunting is good
most any time of the seasons. The late hunts are
real good if weather gets colder during the rut,
but whitetails are taken throughout all
seasons.
Trophy Quality
Mature whitetail average 130
to 180 pounds and have antlers sporting 14" to
20" spreads with 4 to 6 points per side. These
bucks often score from 100 to 150 points and
recent bucks taken in the area scored from 150
to over 190.
Hunting Methods
Hunters use stands or blinds
near game trails, alfalfa fields, feeding areas,
waterholes, and logging cuts. Other effective
methods include glassing, spot & stalk, short
brush drives, and hunting old mountain roads.
Shot Opportunity
Guided hunters usually have
90% to 100% opportunity on the Private Ranches
and 50% to 90% on the Mountain Hunts. Unguided
hunters are often about half as successful.
Shooting distances can vary from 10 to 50 yards
for bows and up to 250 yards for rifles, so
sight rifles at 200 yards.
Licenses
Hunters of any age can
purchase Deer, Bear, Turkey, Cougar, Elk, and
Small Game licenses over the counter. Youth
hunters are half price (even non-residents) and
first time hunters do not need Hunter Ed to
purchase licenses. Other hunters need Hunter Ed
if born after Jan 1, 1972.
Youth under 16, Seniors over
65, Archers, Muzzleloaders, and Handicapped
hunters may take doe whitetail with their
regular deer tag. Other hunters ages 16 to 65
must apply for doe tags in a draw.
Hunting Areas
Private Ranches: Hunts are
conducted on properties ranging from 50 acres to
2500 acres. These properties offer excellent
hunting opportunities with high success rates
and are perfect for hunters with the patience to
sit and watch. Limited numbers of animals are
taken off each property in order to maintain
quality hunting.
Mountain Hunts: Hunts are
conducted in numerous mountain locations where
some of the best trophy animals have been taken.
These hunts usually require more hiking and
there are not as many animals per square mile as
some Ranches, but trophy quality is some of the
best available.
Whitetail Seasons
Early Rifle Whitetail: Season is open
